Our Direct Mail team processes all outgoing Bulk Mail from University departments and organizations for mass mailing.
Mass Mailing or Bulk Mailing is the processing of a large volume of identical pieces of mail that may be distributed to
University locations or mailed as First Class or Standard Mail.

General Guidelines
To qualify for Standard A (Third Class) postage rate, the following rules apply:
- Your mail must have a minimum of 200 identical pieces or 50 lbs of identical pieces.
- All bulk mailing must be sorted, stacked and trayed, according to postal regulations and the proper postal forms must be filled out and accompanying the bulk mail to the Post Office.
Preferred Addressing Options
- Ink Jet: Prints the address directly onto the mail piece. Size requirements are from 3" x 5" to 16" x 17" and thickness up to 1/2".
- Pressure Sensitive (1 up): Labels in a single continuous column. Affixed by machine.
- Avery: Labels printed on 8.5" x 11" sheets. Affixed by hand.
- Chesire (4 up): Labels printed on continuous sheets of 11" x 15" computer paper in four columns across a page. Affixed by machine.
Turnaround
- Average of 3 working days on jobs for less than 25,000 pieces
- Average of 5 working days for 25,000 pieces or more
- Rush requests are subject to an additional charge
